Biography

Mark WhalenMark Whalen is the founder of Five Points Acupuncture & Wellness.  This clinic is the result of his efforts over the last nine years of intense study and clinical work in the field of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine.  Mark is passionate about educating others on the benefits of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine and is driven to help others get well.

Mark first became interested in acupuncture while he was a patient. Although skeptical at first, he could not argue with the results he experienced. Throughout the course of his treatment, he became fascinated by the traditional Chinese medical approach to health and healing. This fascination became a passion, leading Mark to change his path and pursue a career in acupuncture.

Mark graduated from the New England School of Acupuncture in Watertown, MA with a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He is licensed to practice acupuncture by the Massachusetts Board of Medicine. Mark is also board certified to practice herbal medicine via the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). While attending the New England School of Acupuncture, Mark focused his studies on Chinese style acupuncture and Chinese Herbal medicine. Mark also completed an internship with master herbalist Dr. Tao Xie at the Pathways to Wellness clinic in Boston.

Mark has worked in two of the busiest acupuncture clinics in New England and has gained valuable clinical experience working on a variety of patients and conditions. Mark is also a certified personal trainer through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America and a certified Nutrition & Wellness Consultant through the American Fitness Professionals & Associates.
